Its driving my absolutely crazy, my dad smokes non-stop everyday, on the balcony and I can frequently smell it… I’ve been trying to persuade him to quit for years, but he never does. The subject of smoking always ends up in a heated argument and it really starts to affect the relationship a lot.
Plus the cigarettes cost a lot due to laws and it really gets on my nerves because its a waste of money. I really am concerned that I have been exposed one time to many, I have to eat dinner a lot and the guests smoke so much that I am concerned about getting illnesses from second hand smoke…

To be successful in quit smoking, the smokers have to defeat their cigarette addiction both psychologically and physically.
When a smoker starts to quit, or the intake of cigarette is cut, the smoker will experience withdrawal symptoms. This is the result of a lack of nicotine since the body has been dependent on the cigarette addiction. Psychologically, when a smoker stop the habit, a major change in their behavior will occur. Physically, the cut of nicotine intake causes the body react. The smoker should be ready to face physical and psychological factors once they quit. The withdrawal symptoms can include depression, frustration, trouble sleeping, restlessness, crankiness and etc.
Usually, withdrawal symptoms start happen about 2 or 3 hours after the last cigarette is smoked. These cigarette addiction symptoms will escalate to be severe after 2 or 3 days and will go on for several weeks.
It is very important to stop smoking, because the cigarette addiction will lead you to some serious illness such as lung cancer, heart disease, and emphysema. It is a fact that a smoker is more likely to die of a heart attack than a non smoker.

I know that if you don’t start, you’ll never be addicted to it. But if you quit smoking, is the urge to smoke much greater, does it get easier as time passes, is it really possible to be free of the addiction, or will it stay, make life hard forever?

My smoking is pretty bad. I started in 2004 @ age 19 as a social smoker, now I’m hitting 2 packs a day.
When I quit I want to go to sleep for 8-9 hours so that my body will have a head start on getting it out of my system. BUT, I dread how my body will react. Any idea of what it’ll be like?
